  • Area Of Research:Protein ubiquitination and deubiquitination in cellular processes and disease, HPV induced oncogenesis, posttranslational modifications in cellular activities.

My lab is themed on ubiquitin signaling and genome editing. I am interested in identifying deubiquitinases crucial in important biological process and identify inhibitors against such deubiquitinases. We apply individual depletion strategy to members of Ubiquitin Proteasome System to identify crucial regulators of cellular processes and disease. Many of these proteins have distinct catalytic pockets, which can be targeted for inhibition by small molecule inhibitors. Such small molecule inhibitors can be developed into effective drugs.  I am also interested in studying gene function in animal models using gene-editing technologies. CRISPR-based endogenous gene tagging allows studying gene functions at physiological relevant conditions. We use these technologies along with proteomics studies to elucidate functions of target genes.
