Prof. Prakash Babu received Ph.D. from University of Hyderabad, Post-Doctoral from Japan and U.K. His main research interests are Cerebral Ischemia/ Ischemic stroke, Cerebral Malaria, Glioma, Meningioma and Epilepsy. He has guided 23 doctoral students and is currently supervising 8 Ph.D. students and 2 Post-Doctoral students. He has published more than 120 research articles in the peer reviewed journals, presented his research in more than 180 national and international conferences, and has also organized many conferences of national and international significance. He has served as the Pro-Vice-Chancellor to the University of Hyderabad and Dean, School of Medical Science, University of Hyderabad. Currently he is the Director, UGC-MMTTC (HRDC), University of Hyderabad. His prominent administrative positions in the University of Hyderabad include Dean Students’ Welfare, Chief Proctor, Head, Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics. He has served/ is serving across various important committees in the University, Biotech and Pharma industries and Hospitals in different capacities. He is Fellow, Royal Society of Biology (UK), National Academy of Biological Sciences, Chennai; Fellow, A.P. Akademy of Sciences; Fellow, Indian Academy of Neurosciences, STA Fellow, Japan Science and Technology, DST-DAAD fellow, DBT- Overseas fellow. Other positions held, Secretary, Asia Pacific Society for Neurochemistry (APSN), Singapore; Secretary General, Federation of Asian Biotech Association; Vice-President, Indian Society for Parasitology. Currently, he is serving as Secretary General, Society for Neurochemistry, India (SNCI); His lab has grants from DBT and DST. He has active collaboration with KIMS Hospital, DrILS.  He is Chairman, IC-SCR Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, Chairman, Institutional Ethics Committee, ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition, Chairman, IEC, Mahindra University, Member, Member Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBSC), Dr. Reddy’s Biologics. Former, member, IC-SCR, L.V. Prasad Eye Institute and Research Advisory committee, NIMS. Member, Scientific Advisory Committee, ICMR- National Animal Resource Facility for Bio-Medical Research (NARFBR).
